Update on the electric Minor

Postby aminorjourney » Thu Oct 05, 2006 2:21 pm

Hi everyone!

I finally got around to getting the second of the two doors off the body of the car so we're getting really close to a stage where we can dip her!

For the latest pictures of the chassis prior to preparation head to my website at www.aminorjourney.com :)

Hi Chris,

Shooting for 40 Thundersky 200AH cells, and probably a Siemens
1FV5104-WS09 and the Simovert Short controller. I'm torn between that motor and possibly using the Zapi/BestMotors cobination that Pete Perkins used as on a recent chat we decided that my car probably weighs about the same as the Bedford.

The Siemens is pretty low RPM so I don't think I'll need a reduction box on it.
Of course, I'm still very new to all this so I may be talking rubbish.

As for cell protection I'm tempted by the lynch cell protector/monitors so I don't need a complex BMS on the car - leaving me the opportunity to keep the interior pretty "standard".

First things first though - I need to fabricate a cage that the car can be moved on without wheels for the dipping etc - and for that I must fix my welder!

No, but the conversion was/is going to take a long time and I needed transport in the interim!

Ah I see, must admit the EL does look like great fun and I very nearly had a poke at it on e-bay when it came up as it was only up the road from me

But I have got rather too many projects/ vehicles dotted about already so thought better of it, looks like you got a minter. 8)
