Subject: Motorola and <Landlord> supporting green issues.
Hi David,
Now that the impact of global warming is becoming more and more important, responsible companies and individuals are taking action to minimise their impact on the environment.
Electric cars are an easy and inexpensive way of showing that we all care, with the added benefit of reduced costs (e.g. no road tax and about 1/3 cost of fuel bills).
Most common electric vehicles have a limited ranged of about 40-50 miles on one charge and there are several people in my immediate department that are interested in considering such a vehicle for commuting. I am sure that there are other people on Motorola (Chineham) that would consider using such a facility once they realise how practical it is.
Given the recent advances in practical electric vehicles like the currently available Citreon Berlingo Electrique, Micro-Vetts Doblo' Electric People and recent trials of the new Electric Smart Car (See spec) by several local authorities and large companies, commuting using electric cars is practical here and now.
This is a great opportunity for Motorola and <Landlord> to again contribute to local/global issues by providing charging facilities at or near our site.
This charging service would be so cheap to run that it could be provided free (costing about £1 per charge) or paid for by the employee. If the facility was made public (i.e. outside of a given site) and provided high power outlets (e.g. 62 & 150 Amp supplies) then it would be a key charging point in the southern central UK (see Public Charging Facilities) further raising our profile.
If you need any other information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Rob
