Seems like they've sorted it now.

Don't you love it when your project's "80% finished" ? It's so satisfying to know there's only 80% left to do...

It's a real shame it's so expensive :(

I hope their data gathering box is emi and rfi proof as my car can bugger anything like that in a jiffy!
The inside of the Insight power compartment is like being inside Teslas lightning machine without the sparks of course

Looks like a great event - shame about the price tag - BVS membership fees simply can't cover the expense of the club entering things like that - they basically just cover the website, magazine, paperwork, promotional literature etc.

However, often I have found that with a gentle nudge, organisations are willing to let us have a presence for free.

I express it thus: "we are an organisation with charitable aims (disseminating information, promoting EVs etc), run entirely by volunteers, and financed by (very occasional) donations and (individial) membership subs.... As the longest running EV-group in the UK, most organisations are willing to welcome us for free (and we do not have the budget to pay anything to attend)"

Feel free to test the water - if they would be willing to let us have, say 2-5 vehicles in the run for free, then with the Elise and Tesla, and maybe a couple of others, we could make quite an impression.

If such negotiation fails, then I am sure committee would welcome it if anyone were to enter privately and be willing to promote the BVS at the event.

Feel free to give me a bell to have a chat about it. My number is in the front of the Society magazine.

Mary.

ps I note closing date for entries is end of this month, so action needs to be taken quickly if we want to be a part of this.

I'm entering privately and if you would like me to promote the BVS then I'm happy to do that. Can you run this by the committee?

I don't think it will be a problem, but you are right to check, thank you.

I will consult with committee and get back to you after the weekend.

Cheers!

If you havent already paid the fees Kevin, try Marys nudge nudge idea with them, as I could be up for it if only it wasnt so stupidly expensive.

I suppose theres actually nothing stopping me wandering along in the berlingo and doing the whole trip anyway without actually entering , its being done on public roads after all

I'm paid up... only 100 cars in total and I didn't want to risk missing the event. I will also use this as the launch date for our free charge point programme (evcollective.com), and hopefully use it to promote a number of other EV related entities including a green energy company and BVS.

I believe this event will get major exposure... I've been asked to have the host from one of the TV car shows in my second seat... however, that was already taken by my 13 year old son... I also understand that we might see some Hollywood A-List people in the cars.

I have Emailed both Eon and Npower to see if they wish to sponsor me.

If I don't get a reply early next week I will stump up the cash myself.

I look forward to comparing notes with Kevin regarding his car  and also about the charging points he is installing.

My plan is to again attend the Electrathon down at Stratford. I think I read somewhere that he cannot make it there which means I have a chance of winning a race.

It would be nice to have the BVS more represented on the run but I expect that only money talks and it will be a cash only entry.
Hopefully, an EV mate who converted an MGTF about the same time as me will enter the event as well which should increase the numbers.
He is trying out sponsorship with EDF.

I have spoken with committee and we would be very happy for you to promote the Society at the event, thank you :-)

Great! Does the BVS have any stick-on logo's or other collateral?
