How long has the BVS been running??

This little question passed through my mind this evening...........

Does anyone know how old the BVS is, when was it actually formed and by whom , might make for an interesting magazine article ??

Over 20 years that much I know but I don't know exactly how old I'm sure someone will tell us though :)
